Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 in the US receive eSIM support with DSDS

Gone are the days of fumbling with a small piece of plastic and trying to put it in your phone for cellular communication. Thanks to the eSIM technology, you can simply scan the SIM card information and download it to your device. While it’s certainly more convenient than dealing with physical SIM cards, many phones in the US still don’t support eSIM, even though some already have eSIM devices. However, the latest updates for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 bring support for eSIM, Dual SIM, and Dual Standby Mode (DSDS).

Updated firmware versions are currently being released over the air for T-Mobile Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 users in the form of a software release F926USQU1DVEE And the F711USQU2DVEE, Straight. Unlocked variants of carriers receive eSIM functionality as well, so expect new updates to arrive soon on your smartphone. Versions of unlocked models can be determined by software version F926U1UEU1DVEE (Galaxy Z Fold 3) / F711U1UEU2DVEE (Galaxy Z Flip 3).

Notably, eSIM support means that these phones are now dual-SIM through an eSIM – just like their global counterparts. Interestingly enough, the update not only adds support for DSDS but also introduces a host of camera features from the Galaxy S22 lineup. Last but not least, the new software comes with the June 2022 Android security patches.

As always, updates are rolled out in batches. With that said, if you are no stranger to computer-based flashing, you can skip the queue. To do this, get the latest version directly from the company’s firmware update server and flash it manually on your Galaxy device.
