Antonio Banderas is an Academy Award-nominated actor known for a range of films including DesperadoAnd the Interview with the vampireAnd the puss in bootsAnd the Pain and glory, and much more. Currently, the actor is promoting his latest films, official competitionwhich plays in select theaters and has 93% of critics rotten tomatoes. In honor of the new movie, Banderas recently spoke with USA TODAY He discussed one of his most famous roles, Zorro in the 1998 film zorro mask. It turns out that Quentin Tarantino once approached him about doing a Zoro crossing with Django, the iconic character played by Jamie Foxx in the 2012 movie Tarantino, Unlock Django. Apparently, there was some talk of a comic as well as a movie, but it never came to fruition.
“He talked to me, I think Oscar night [in 2020] When I was nominated for Pain and glory. We saw each other at one of those parties. He just approached me and I said, ‘In your hands? Yes man!’ Because Quentin has that nature to do this kind of movie and give it quality. Even if it was based on those kinds of B-movies from the ’60s and ’70s, he could take that material and do something really interesting. We’ve never worked together, but that would be cool because of him, because of Jamie Foxx, and because of [playing] Zoro again when he’s a little older. It’s going to be cool, funny, and crazy,” Banderas shared.
Although there are no current plans for Banderas to return as Zorro, two Zorro projects are currently in the works. At the beginning of the year, it was revealed that Zorro’s upcoming female-led series will move to The CW. The show is set to be contemporary taking into account the classic legend. The project is written by boba fett book Robert Rodriguez, along with his sister, Rebecca Rodriguez, who directed episodes of Doom Patrol And the snow hole. Robert Rodriguez was originally supposed to direct the 1998 film and even have Banderas cast the titular role before leaving the project. Martin Campbell went on to lead the film.
At the end of last year, it was also announced This is a 70’s show Alum, Wilmer Valderrama, will be starring in another Zorro reboot of Disney. “I’ll tell you this,” Valderrama said recently: “This will be Zorro for this generation.” The Drew Barrymore Show. “And it will be incredibly thoughtful with its origin story, and it will be grounded in authenticity.”
