Dragon Ball Super Art Pitches Cell returns to the TV anime

Dragon Ball Super is making its theatrical run in the US, and its latest movie has put all eyes on the anime. Thanks to Gohan and Piccolo, the series got a boost like never before, and the stars aren’t the only ones to shine. Aside from Goku and Vegeta, Dragon Ball Super has put Hive back on the map, and there’s a great piece of art that’s making the rounds promoting a return to the TV show.

As you can see below, the artwork comes from DBSKAKERU1 via Twitter. The artist has put together a number of pieces since Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was released, and the most recent one has gone viral. After all, it imagines a timeline where Cell Max finishes incubation and makes its way onto the battlefield.

Obviously, this art gives Cell Max a bit of a makeover because fully-fledged Android isn’t a giant. In fact, the character looks similar in stature to the Perfect Cell from Dragon Ball Z. Their colors and features may vary here and there. But in the end, this cuddly warrior returns to the most terrifying form of the cell here.

Of course, you can imagine what kind of damage Cell Max could do in this end state. The rampaging robot managed to waste the fighters in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Piccolo had to unlock his final form to fight the bad guys, and Cell Max still beat Namekian. In the end, Gohan was only able to defeat Cell Max after upgrading his final form, so you can see why Cell Max 2.0 is such a threat.

The new anime may end up destroying Cell Max, but that doesn’t mean the franchise can’t bring the famous robot back into the fold. Dr. Hedo may be working for the heroes these days, but there’s no indication that his whole family is doing well. Villains run in the family because the boy is Dr. Gero’s grandson, and given what we know about Dragon Ball, Android 21 can only revive Cell Max to give her husband’s successor something to work against.

Do you think the TV anime should rope the cell in a new arc? Or should the robot be left alone? Share your thoughts in the comments section below or follow me on Twitter @Megan Peters CB.
