The good news, though, is that Iman Filani is the next big star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with first lady Marvel reactions giving unanimous applause for her performance as Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teen living in New Jersey.
She is an excellent student and an avid gamer who writes fantasy stories about her idol, Captain Marvel. Kamala struggles to fit in at home and school. After that, she gains new powers, much like her hero – but will they make her life easier? Not a suite: Probably not. It should be noted, however, that the manner in which they obtain their powers (and what they are) differs according to the source material.
Kamala made her comics debut in 2014 and took the name Carol Danvers first claimed (before she became Captain Marvel). The two characters have been linked in the comics – so it’s no surprise that Kamala plays a major role in Captain Marvel 2, The Marvels.

Mrs. Marvel trailer and teaser
In the first full Ms. Marvel trailer, we see Kamala at school And the discover its powers. Of course, it looks like the series will deviate from the comics, eschewing Terrigen’s haze and any mention of humans, both of which were key to its original origin story.
On Disney Plus Day, the short promo showed how Kamala Khan doesn’t expect to have superpowers, and she got them anyway. She’s walking on air, apparently, in a makeshift Captain Marvel costume, but we don’t see what her extended powers look like. You can find this clip Disney Plus (Opens in a new tab).
At Disney’s Investor Day in December, Marvel unveiled a teaser on a humming reel for Ms. Marvel. The film presents Kamala as a “new kind of superhero” but “at its core, her story is very universal.”
Marvel president Kevin Feige notes that she’s a newer character in the comics. The rest of the teaser highlights the lineup of directors: Adel Elaraby, Bilal Falah, Mira Menon, and Sharmeen Obeid Chinoy. The sizzling reel offers a first look at Fellaini’s footage of her inhabiting the floor.
