Sony teases “Bullet Train”, “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile” at CineEurope

Sony created quite a stir at CineEurope in Barcelona with British superstar Aaron Taylor-Johnson on the floor to tease David Leach’s “bullet train,” in which Taylor Johnson will star opposite Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock and Karen Fukuhara. Taylor Johnson, who just wrapped up shooting “Kraven the Hunter,” provided 15 minutes of footage for the action-packed comedy “Bullet Train,” which also premiered at CinemaCon.

“I watched (the movie) last week and was literally howling with laughter that I almost peed on my seat a little bit. But honestly, this is the summer movie you don’t want to miss — I’m not kidding,” Taylor Johnson said. “It follows the ultimate legend Brad Pitt like you’ve never seen him before, surrounded by an incredible lineup of bomber and deranged killers linked but with conflicting agendas. You can’t help but love Brad Pitt. I mean, he’s the most handsome man in the world, but he’s also a comedic genius,” he continued.

Based on the book by Kotaro Izaka, Pete stars in the movie “Bullet Train” as Ladybug, an unlucky but highly talented assassin whose last assignment puts him on the world’s fastest express train in Japan alongside other killers from around the world.

Taylor Johnson said he and everyone involved in the film are “100% committed to the cinematic experience. We were making this movie at the height of the pandemic (so) we had high hopes of seeing it one day on the big screen, as it should.” The film will be released in theaters on August 5.

Taylor Johnson also spoke about his experience shooting “Kraven the Hunter,” which he described as “one of Marvel’s most iconic and famous heroes – the number one competitor to Spider-Man.” He said he found an interesting fact that this character is “not a stranger or a witch. He’s just a hunter, a convinced human being. A lover of animals and a protector of the natural world. He’s a very cool character.” He added that unlike other Marvel movies, “this movie was entirely shot on location.”

“Bullet Train” demonstrates the studio’s “strong belief in the staying power of originality,” said Stephen O’Dell, head of international release at Sony Pictures, which he said is complementing its production of blockbuster films and series based on the franchise, from Spider-Man: Across the Spider- Verse to El Muerto and subsequent installments of Ghostbuster and Venom.

Over the past eight months, he said, Sony has shown that “the play is alive and profitable” and over the next few months, it will show that “new and original stories are essential and working.”

During its CineEurope presentation, Sony also unveiled an exclusive clip for Will Speck and Josh Gordon’s “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile” starring Javier Bardem as Hector B Valente and featuring the voice of pop star Shawn Mendes as Lyle, alongside with Constance. Wu Winslow Fegley. Based on the bestselling children’s book by Bernard Weber, the musical comedy focuses on the title reptile who has an extraordinary singing talent and lives with the Bremm family in a New York City home.

“This is a movie I don’t think is on your radar yet, but I think it will be after today and it should be. Although it is based on a popular children’s book, the real magic of this movie lies in what marks a great family joint event: a concept movie Loud, full of laughter, infectious joy, emotion, and of course the amazing special effects,” Odell.

In his introduction, O’Dell said Sony had two goals when it compiled what he described as “the studio’s most ambitious six months list ever” fall and winter. He added, “The first was to make sure that we kept the audience accustomed to going to the cinema, and the second was to support his deep belief that the audience loves the social film experience enough to overcome significant obstacles,” stressing the importance of a “clear theatrical window,” arguing that it is “really important.” , which was met with applause from a crowd of exhibitors and distributors. He said Sony’s strategy paid off as it broke its own record with $3 billion at the global box office.

Sony is also “Where The Crawdads Sing” is a 2018 action thriller novel by Delia Owens produced by Reese Witherspoon. At CineEurope, Sony also showed a trailer for “The Woman King” among other things.
