Cash and prize money for Eastbourne 2022 as tennis stars prepare for Wimbledon

It’s almost Wimbledon time – but first of all on the WTA and ATP rounds will be playing in Eastbourne, so what is the total prize money and purse available for this field?

Generally considered a warm-up event for Wimbledon, which begins next week, Eastbourne is an important calendar event for players.

Along with the Queen’s Club event, players can use both tournaments to get back in shape ahead of this year’s Grand Slam and rule out any weaknesses as they head into SW19 and hope to make it to Center Court.

It wasn’t always the case that events for both men and women would take place in Eastbourne, but in 2022 they will.

Prize money and wallet details at the 2022 Eastbourne Tennis Championships

Since Eastbourne is not a Grand Slam, it is far less than what Wimbledon offers to those involved.

The best way to think of it is that if Wimbledon is a UEFA Champions League match, Eastbourne is a much more routine home game in the Premier League.

As such, the total wallet available for the men’s tournament would be £599,002.13 (US$736,511.88) at current exchange rates.

For the women’s event, the wallet in Eastbourne is worth £651,059.18 or $800,236.37.

The total portfolio of the Eastbourne Tennis Championships in 2022 is £1,250,061.31 million. That is 1.536,487.86 million US dollars.

The men’s prize winner will receive around £91,000 (US$111,000), with the Women’s Champion set for a check of around £95,000 or $116K.

After canceling the event in 2020, and with reduced prize money and an overall portfolio in 2021, The numbers shown have recovered to somewhat normal pre-pandemic levels.

Who has the most victories?

The Eastbourne women’s event has largely continued since 1974 when Chris Evert defeated Virginia Wade.

Martina Navratilova had a record 11 wins at Eastbourne between 1978 and 1993.

In fact, between her second title in 1982 and 11 in 1993, Helena Sokova (1987) and Laurie McNeil (1992) won, defeating Sokova Navratilova in the final.

For good measure, Navratilova also won six doubles titles between 1981 and 1986 alongside Pam Shriver.

As for the men, they played for the first time in 2009, with Dmitriy Tursunov winning, with a hiatus in 2015-16.

The likes of Andy Roddick and Novak Djokovic have found success, with Feliciano Lopez taking two titles in 2013 and 2014 making him the most successful singles player.
