Rupert Murdoch, Jerry Hall divorced after 6 years of marriage

Rupert Murdoch and Jerry Hall divorced after six years of marriage.

The 91-year-old media mogul and 65-year-old model tied the knot in 2016. This was Murdoch’s fourth marriage. He was previously married to Wendi Deng from 1999 to 2014; Anna Maria Torf from 1967 to 1999; and Patricia Booker, from 1956 to 1965. Hall was married to Mick Jagger, rock star and lead singer of the Rolling Stones.

During the marriage, Murdoch arranged the sale of most of 21st Century Fox to Walt Disney in 2019 in a deal worth $71.3 billion. However, he still serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fox Corporation, a publicly traded entity that owns the Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox Television, Fox News, Fox Business, and Fox Sports. Through News Corporation, the publishing empire of which he remained CEO, Murdoch controls The Wall Street Journal, The Sun and book publisher HarperCollins. One of the leading forces in media and entertainment, Murdoch is known for his arrogant personality and embrace of conservative politics.

Hall is a model who has also acted in films such as Tim Burton’s ‘Batman’ and starred as Mrs. Robinson in the Broadway production of ‘The Graduate’. In 2021, Murdoch and Hall appeared at Tavern on the Green to celebrate his 90th birthday to the Mongols, joined by media giant Barry Diller and Peter Chernin, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft, CEO of NBC Global Jeff Shell, CEO of News Corp. Robert Thomson among others.

It is not believed that the separation will significantly affect Murdoch’s stake in any of his media holdings. The New York Times first reported that Hall and Murdoch were divorced. A Murdoch spokesman declined to comment.
