Jakeways and White will also produce the series alongside Beth Willis (“Doctor Who”) and George Faber (“National Treasure”). It is produced by The Forge Entertainment for Apple TV +.

The Buccaneers by Wharton tells the story of a group of wealthy American girls in the 1870s who set out to find an elegant English husband during London’s first season – and the marriages that followed that were not what they seemed.

The official slogan reads: “Girls with money, men with power.” New money, old secrets. A group of young, fun-loving American girls explode in the turbulent season of London in the 1870s, beginning an Anglo-American culture conflict as the sclerotic land of the upper lip is pierced by a refreshing disregard for centuries of tradition. Sent to secure husbands and titles, Pirate hearts are set on so much more, and saying “I do” is just the beginning…”
