Abe Morgan’s “Chernobyl” Product Options “This Is Not a Pity Diary”

Transatlantic production strength sister (“Chernobyl”) has the option of adaptation rights BAFTA- and Emmy-winning screenwriter and longtime collaborator Abi Morgan(“Division”) “These are not pity notes.” Morgan will be adapting her book for screen, as well as direct and executive production, with the co-founder and creative director of Sister, Jane Featherstone (“natural views”). The memoir follows the life of the Morgan family after a tragic change in their family’s circumstances.

Morgan said, “Working with Jane and Cister over the past few turbulent years, they have been my running partners, given a unique look at the unfolding drama. As producers of some of the best films and TV, there is no one else I can trust to help show “This is not the character’s ‘deep on screen’ pity diary.”

Featherstone added, “My father has an extraordinary talent for words, so while it should come as no surprise that her memoir is such a beautiful and powerful book, it still amazes me. We have worked together for many years but her incredible strength in these past few challenges has been so inspiring.” I feel really privileged to be able to work with her to bring this very personal story to the screen.”

This Is Not a Pity Diary will be produced and co-produced by Sister Little Chick Limited. The book was published in the United Kingdom by John Murray and in the United States by Sugar 24, an imprint of Harper Collins. Universal rights are handled by 42.
