Windows 11 build 25151 is released in the Dev channel with fixes

Microsoft is once again releasing a new version of Windows 11 for Dev-enrolled Insiders, this time building 25151. As with previous releases in the Dev Channel, this is part of the next development cycle for Windows 11 following the upcoming 22H2 update. Since we are still in the very early stages of development (version 22H2 is not yet publicly available), there aren’t many new features yet, and this release is entirely focused on fixes.

In fact, even the list of fixes is relatively short this time around. Fixed some issues with File Explorer tabs, such as tabs appearing too large for some users. Here is the full list:

[File Explorer]

  • Fixed a scaling issue that could cause tabs to be unexpectedly large.
  • Right-clicking on a tab and then clicking elsewhere in File Explorer should dismiss the context menu more reliably now.

[Other]

  • We believe the core fix in Build 25145 addressed the last issue where closing via Start wasn’t working for some Insiders (rebooting unexpectedly instead), and as such this is removed from the list of known issues. If you are still experiencing this issue with the latest updates, please report it in the feedback center.
  • Fixed a high-hit Windows security app crash.
  • The exceptions page in the Windows Security app has been updated so that file paths now make better use of available space instead of being truncated when space is still available.
  • Fixed a core issue that was causing a crash when trying to delete ports in printui / s.
  • Fixed an issue where printing from UWP apps would not work for some Insiders in the last two flights.

Despite the focus on fixes, Windows 11 build 25151 still comes with some known issues, which you can find below.

Known issues in Windows 11 build 25151

[General]

  • We are working on a fix to address reports that mica material And the acrylic The blur effect is not displayed correctly on operating system surfaces such as the Start menu, notification center, and other areas.
  • Some games that use Easy Anti-Cheat may crash or cause your computer to be scanned.
  • We are investigating reports that some Insiders are experiencing bug checks with the KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error message in NetAdapterCx.sys starting with build 25145.

[File Explorer]

  • Up arrow is incorrectly aligned in File Explorer tabs. This will be fixed in a future update.
  • We are investigating reports that launching File Explorer in certain ways when using dark mode (for example, from the command line) unexpectedly displays the body of File Explorer in light mode.

[Widgets]

  • We’re working on an issue that causes widgets preferences (temperature modules and installed widgets) to be unexpectedly reset to default.

[Live captions]

  • Some full screen applications (for example, video players) prevent live captions from appearing.
  • Some apps placed near the top of the screen will restart and close before the live captions run behind the live captions window placed at the top. Use the system menu (ALT + SPACEBAR) while the application is focused to move the application window down.

The most exciting thing on the horizon for Windows 11 at the moment is the update to version 22H2, which is currently being tested with Insiders on the Beta and Release Preview channels. This version should be released publicly in the coming months, and it has a lot of improvements, including Start Menu folders, new touch gestures, and more.

Currently, there are only a few things that are exclusive to the Dev Channel, which includes a desktop search bar and some improvements to subscription management in the Settings app. However, if you are already registered with this channel, you can get Windows 11 build 25151 from Windows Update to get the fixes mentioned above. We should also see more features and changes over the next year or so.
