The TV series “Field of Dreams” does not move forward in the peacock

Adaptation to tuberculosis in ‘Field of Dreams’ no longer occurs in Peacock, diverse Learn. Universal Television is currently shopping around for the project.

A direct-to-series adaptation of the 1989 film was ordered at Peacock in August 2021. Michael Schur was appointed as writer and executive producer under Fremulon’s leadership, with Lawrence Gordon of The Gordon Company also executive production with David Miner of 3 Arts and Morgan Sackett. The original movie was produced by Gordon, which starred Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones, Amy Madigan, and the late Ray Liotta. Liotta passed away last month at the age of 67.

“Over the years, ‘Field of Dreams’ has remained a fan favorite, maintaining its rightful place in the zeitgeist,” Lisa Katz, president of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said when the series was originally ordered. “It’s an eccentric and ingrained setting, a space in which Mike Shore excels, and we look forward to bringing a new version of this classic to Peacock.”

The show is set as a reimagining of the movie, which was based on WP Kinsella’s 1982 novel “Shoeless Joe.” The film was nominated for three Oscars, including Best Picture.

Shore, whose credits include “The Office,” “Parks and Recreation,” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” currently serves as executive producer on Peacock’s “Rutherford Falls,” which he co-created with Ed Helms and showrunner Sierra Teller Ornelas. It was represented by 3 Arts Entertainment and Hansen Jacobson.
