Ladder matches, Cody Rhodes and Summerslam plans

WWE’s money in the bank It takes place tonight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The show is a far cry from what was originally announced, as the event was originally set inside the Allegiant Stadium and Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar featured heavily in the show’s early advertisement. But poor ticket sales moved the show several blocks from the MGM Grand, then hit the news that Cody Rhodes (who was all over the event’s original trailer) and Rhea Ripley (booked to face Bianca Belair on the Raw Women’s Championship) both walked off the show because injury.

But there is still plenty of intrigue for the show, especially considering how bags of money in the bank can make a WWE product summerslam It takes place at the end of the month. With ComicBook’s wrestling team assembled, here’s a look at the predictions for what might happen tonight!

Make me a MITB winner which wows SummerSlam

Conor Casey: I have an idea for Cody Rhodes which I’ll talk about later, but for now let’s win Seth and have him threaten to recreate what happened in WrestleMania 31. Apart from McIntyre, who is already lining up for the A World Championship matcht struggle in the castle, Rollins is the only star ready to break the monotony of the world championship image right now. It’s not a great sign that it’s a rehash of seven years ago, but that’s an argument for another day.

Tim Adams: Seth Rollins wins MITB and announces early that he’s making money to make Brock Lesnar against Roman Reigns a three-way match. You can even remove the early ad and let fans believe they’ll take on Brock vs. summerslam. It could be similar to Bianca Bellaire’s rematch against Sasha Banks last year, in which Banks was knocked out and Becky returned to win in 10 seconds.

Charlie Ridley: Connor and Tim both make great points, and I hope Seth can wreak havoc because the situation around these belts is grim, at best. So I’m going to focus on the Money in the Bank game that’s happening this weekend. Bianca needs to hold the title for a while and I want to have a full program between her and Rhea when the latter is healthy. On the other hand, Ronda needs to get out of the spotlight. Give Schutzi the bag and let her face Ronda, and instantly give the Smackdown Champion an opponent that makes her matches fun. Playing the Shotzi title will be a lot of fun.

Matthew Aguilar: So, you want spicy? Let’s get the spices. Raquel Rodriguez and Schutze are my picks to win this match, but I’m making some changes. Since Rhonda and Biller are both little faces at the moment, heels will likely win. High-heeled shoes are also more fun with a bag, so Bayley had a surprise comeback and win the match, putting her in a feud with Ronda. If Bayley doesn’t come back, I’ll go with Shotzi, although I’d love to see Liv or Raquel win as a fan only. On the men’s side, there aren’t many compelling options, and honestly, it’s like there’s no surprise comeback by Cody Rhodes or something, Seth is the one who needs to win the bag. Yes, we did, but it’s been long enough and it’s really the only one you can stick to that main Title without a lot of reinforcements and continue to make it great.

Did the women’s MITB winner break the streak and keep the bag longer than a day?

Connor: Aside from Carmella (the bank’s first woman money winner), no woman held the contract for longer than a day before cashing in. But no matter who gets it this time, I think they’ll at least put off a little while. WWE will probably want to head to summerslam With both Belair and Rousey as her heroes.

Tim: No, because WWE can’t help themselves and keep dumb streaks alive. The question is will the winner get successful money? It would be nice for the winner to walk around with the big bag for a long period of time. This would allow WWE to raise the money and build anticipation for that to finally happen.

Charlie: Yes, unless Becky wins the bag. The thing is, even though Becky doesn’t need that bag for a title shot, she is able to get one at any chance. Going with the story “Becky is being oppressed at every turn”, let it take Bianca in summerslam And ask to cash the bag before you can win another title.

not shiny: I usually say no and the streak continues. However, the fact that the women’s department is so thin at the moment may lead them to do a longer program with it, at least in terms of lasting more than a day. We’ll probably be out of it for a few weeks, and I agree with Connor in WWE that he’s not likely to rock Belair or Rousey’s Title even. summerslam.

Is Cody Rhodes somehow involved on Sunday?

Connor: For a man with a torn pectoralis muscle and a timetable for return, he should come out of it until Royal rumbleCody Rhodes sure has been talking a lot about the men’s ladder match. show it after Hell in a dungeon He was mostly about it and came back to talk about it live during a surprise video message on Raw this week. I can’t get over the idea that WWE would have Rhodes reach La Brock Lesnar at MITB 2019 and carry the bag without having to take any bumps.

Tim: No, let Cody Rhodes sit at home and heal properly. Having him cut out the boredom and interviews from home during rehab is enough to not let fans forget about him until it’s time for his triumphant return later in the year.

Charlie: I think he’s somehow involved, even if it’s just a pre-recorded promotion. Cody turns off the lights or hits his music from the control room just to distract Seth and his bag would be a great addition to their saga.

not shiny: To a normal person, I would probably say no, but this guy has actually been on TV once since surgery and wrestled in a brutal match while he was visibly injured, so, yeah, I’d say he’s involved in some way. The plan seems to be to keep him involved on TV here and there throughout his recovery to keep him in the minds of fans, and while that’s not necessary, Rhodes seems to be fine with him, so I think we at least see him on video all night.

Carmella or Natalia – which one lasts longer in the title match?

(Photo: WWE)

Connor: Rossi’s matches aren’t known to be particularly long while Belair can get 20 minutes out of just about anyone. So Carmella will last longer but both of them will lose.

Tim: Carmella because Ronda Rousey is not known for playing long, drawn out matches. Carmella is an experienced wrestler, and as she told Belair on Raw this week, her resume speaks for itself. I can see Belair/Carmella lasting 15 minutes or more.

Charlie: I can’t imagine being interested in the Ronda match after 10 minutes or so. Meanwhile, Bianca is an otherworldly athlete and professional wrestler who is able to cement amazing main events. Let’s hope Carmella is the correct answer here.

not shiny: I would say Carmella, mostly because Ronda’s match with Natalya will probably be in the 10 minute zone. Having said that, I’m actually more excited about Ronda vs Natalya thanks to the excellent sparring on social media, and Natalya’s impersonation didn’t hurt either. If you watched SmackDown last year, you know we’ve seen Belair vs Carmella many times before, so I’m not excited to see it again.

Should Theory still be US Champion if he gets his match with John Cena at SummerSlam?

wwe-theory-3.jpg
(Photo: WWE)

Connor: I would actually agree to yes because in the very likely scenario in which Cena wins, he will hold the United States Championship while promoting his next film projects and that would be funny (imagine peace maker Bearing a US title for a promotional tour).

Tim: Yes, because after John Cena wins (we all know he wins) he won’t continue to defend the title. Theory’s one of Raw’s top competitors and the status of being the United States Champion only help his status.

Charlie: Unfortunately yes. The match against John Cena requires no bets, but it is wrong to give a man the match of a lifetime after he loses his belt.

not shiny: Yes, he should absolutely be the US Champion when the match happens, and the truth is he should beat Cena as well depending on Cena’s schedule. Cena is a Teflon at this point, and if he doesn’t come back for at least a little while, winning the title does more harm than good. In that case, I hope Cena loses, even if it’s because of McMahon’s interference or some other external factor. If Cena is going to be back for at least a few weeks to a month though, his win should be fun.
