With each episode lasting at least 70 minutes and the last two episodes vying for feature film runtimes, Season 4 of Weird things It was easily her biggest season yet, leading fans to wonder what creators Matt and Ross Duffer have in store for fans in the upcoming final season. The pair recently noted that the narrative nature of Season 4 means it requires more episodes than Season 5 does, so while the episode count itself will apparently be shorter, the series’ final episode will likely run a long run. Season 4 of Weird things Streaming now on Netflix.
“The only reason we don’t expect it to be that long is because if you look at it, it’s about two hours before our kids are really drawn to the supernatural mystery,” Matt Dover shared with happy sad confused Season 4 Development Podcast “You get to know them, see them in their lives, what they struggle with, adjust to high school, etc. Steve tries to find a date, all of it. Nothing is obviously going to happen in the first two episodes of [Season 5]. “
He continued, “For the first time ever, we’re not wrapping things up at the end of 4, so it’s going to move. I don’t know it’s going to go 100mph at the start of 5, but it’s going to move really fast. The characters are really going, they’re going to really have a goal and drive, and I think that’s going to take two hours. At least and it makes this season really feel different. I’m sure the recap will be much longer, and it will be [The Lord of the Rings:] return of the king-u with eight like endings.
The filmmakers also noted that most series, in their opinion, have great penultimate episodes, with the final chapter serving more as a series conclusion or conclusion. In that regard, the final episode of Season 4 was nearly two and a half hours long to serve as the penultimate episode and finale.
Even if the final season wasn’t as long as Season 4, Matt confirmed that the series’ ending will likely be at least two hours long.
