Apple limited series adaptation of “Lady in the Lake” about the cast.
Byron Powers (“Irma Vep,” “Kimi,” “No Sudden Move,” “Honey Boy”), Josiah Cross-Wiggins (“A Thousand and One,” “King Richard,” “Masters of the Air”), and more recent Mike The additions are Epps (“The Upshaws”, “Survivor’s Remorse”), Noah Jupe (“Franklin”, “Honey Boy”, “A Quiet Place”), and Pruitt Taylor Vince (“Bird Box”, “Gotti”) to the series. They join previously announced cast members Natalie Portman, Lan Noel, Mickey Madison, and Brett Gilman, as well as Moses Ingram.
The series is based on the novel by Laura Lippmann of the same name. Set in 1960s Baltimore, an unsolved murder prompts homemaker and mother, Maddie Schwartz (Portman), to reinvent her life as an investigative journalist and puts her on a collision course with Cleo Sherwood (Ingram), a hardworking woman working as a witch. Motherhood, many jobs, and a passionate commitment to advancing Black’s progressive agenda in Baltimore.
Alma Harel produced the series and is also a director and executive producer via her new production company, Zusa. Harrell’s production partner, Christopher Leggett, is also an executive. Portman executive produces with her producing partner, Sophie Maas. Jupe previously worked with Har’el on the critically acclaimed “Honey Boy”.
Endeavor Content operates as a studio on Lady in the Lake. Crazyrose directors Nathan Ross and the late executive producer Jean-Marc Vallee along with Julie Gardner for Bud Wolf. Amy J. Kaufman and Lynne Eskridge of POV Entertainment are also executive producers, as does Lipman. The series is written by Harel, along with Sheila Wilson, Zach Shields, Vanessa Baden-Kelly, Brianna Pilser, Nambi Kelly, Byron Powers and Boaz Yakin. Yakin also serves as an executive producer.
