Jeanell English was promoted to the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Science

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has elevated Jenelle English to the newly created position of Executive Vice President, Impact & Inclusion. English will report directly to the Academy’s new CEO, Bill Kramer.

In its role, English will lead the Academy’s initiatives designed to address the underrepresentation across the industry. She will also oversee the Academy’s talent development programs, known as Academy Gold. Programs include the Gold Rising Coaching and Mentoring Program, the Gold Rising Fellowship for Women, Student Academy Awards, the Nicole Academy Fellowships in Screenwriting and the Gold Graduate Program. In addition, English will continue to oversee the Academy’s sustainability, representation, inclusion and accessibility efforts.

“For the past two years, Jenelle has been an invaluable part of our ever-evolving Academy team,” Kramer stated. “Her commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion has led to progress across the Academy’s departments, as has her contributions to creating a more sustainable and accessible institution.”

English joined the Academy staff in 2020 and most recently served as Vice President, Impact and Operations. Prior to joining the Academy, English worked for over a decade in global diversity and inclusion strategy, employee engagement, corporate social responsibility, cross-cultural training and talent management. She was most recently a principal at Discovery, Inc. , now Warner Bros. Discovery.

The academy continues to collect all its players and put them in places to usher in a new era. After Kramer was appointed, he began his duties on July 1, before the scheduled start date of July 18. Prior to taking over as CEO, Kramer was president and director of the Academy’s Museum of the Moving Image, which opened in September 2020. Jacqueline Stewart has just been appointed its new director and president.

The 95th Academy Awards will take place on March 12, 2023, and will be broadcast live on ABC in more than 200 regions worldwide from the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
