Before I begin, I think from the fact that you clicked on an article with it”Stranger Things season 5“ In the headline that says you’ve already finished Stranger Things season 4. But if you haven’t, I suggest stopping here, as there will be spoilers.
Are you still with me? Good. Now that Season 4 of Stranger Things has hit our screens in full, for those of us who aren’t in the Upside Down, our look has shifted to Season 5, where Hawkins’ sinister fate hangs in the balance. As the final series of this Netflix, we hope to debut Stranger Things Season 5 Answers These 13 Questionsbut personally, I have a big worry – that with all the loose ends to be tied up, Steve will never find his perfect daughter.
One of my main problems with Stranger Things season 4 is that it was very scary. However, part of the joy of the writings of creators Matt and Ross Duffer is that in between the torture, the monsters, the children flying through the air with bloody eyes and broken limbs, are the human stories that connect us to these characters.
Over the past six years, kids have gone from playing Dungeons & Dragons to teens with relationships, emotions and that pure embarrassment that we can all come to terms with all too well. But will there still be time for character-driven stories like Steve and Dustin’s adorable romance, or Nancy’s Jonathan Steve’s love triangle that confounded and entertained me between gory moments?
What about Nancy Jonathan Steve’s love triangle?
I’m worried because in an interview with collider (Opens in a new tab)The Duffer Brothers said, “Season 5 is going to start pedaling to metal. We’re not going to ramp up. There’s no time. There’s obviously no normal life once you get to the end of the four. It’s not like there’s going to be time to explore the love lives of our characters, and how dating Steve is going.” There will be none of that, it will only be 100 mph from the start.”
When we leave the characters at the end of Season 4, Steve’s feelings for Nancy are clear, as he tells her that she was the girl he had seen in his road-trip dreams. With Jonathan in California, we’ve had hours to watch the unresolved history of high school sweethearts play out in the drama of a will – they won’t -.
However, with Jonathan returning to Hawkins, it seems that even if Steve doesn’t go on any new dates in Season 5, we’ll definitely find out who lives happily ever after with whom.
This is important because I would argue that the relationships between the characters are at the core of this show. It’s the love that makes the characters go upside down.
It’s also what keeps viewers like me going – the complex and well-thought-out characters are this show’s best asset. So let’s hope for more heartfelt moments in the final season, even if we get fewer shots of Steve’s gorgeous hair.
