One of my main problems with Stranger Things season 4 is that it was very scary. However, part of the joy of the writings of creators Matt and Ross Duffer is that in between the torture, the monsters, the children flying through the air with bloody eyes and broken limbs, are the human stories that connect us to these characters.

Over the past six years, kids have gone from playing Dungeons & Dragons to teens with relationships, emotions and that pure embarrassment that we can all come to terms with all too well. But will there still be time for character-driven stories like Steve and Dustin’s adorable romance, or Nancy’s Jonathan Steve’s love triangle that confounded and entertained me between gory moments?
