CinefestOZ Sets Program, with Richard Roxburgh Chair of the Jury

Western Australia’s boutique film festival, CinefestOZ, has announced its 2022 program of 270 film screenings and events.

In its 15th edition, the six-day Destination Film Festival will take place from August 23-28, 2022 across 35 locations in southwestern Western Australia, which is reputed to be the largest wine-producing region.

Veteran actor Richard Roxburgh (“Moulin Rouge”, “Elvis”) has been chosen as chair of the jury that will award a A$100,000 (US$65,000) film prize for the best Australian feature film or feature documentary.

Director Gracie Otto’s debut feature film “Seriously Red” (which premiered at SXSW earlier this year) starring writer Krew Boylan as a Dolly Parton rep, is competing for the award. It also stars Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale.

The competition also includes: the world premiere of “Transfusion,” director Matt Nable (“The Dry,” “The Twelve”) and stars Sam Worthington (“Avatar”) as a man trying to connect with a young son after a devastating loss; “Sweet As”, the first feature film by writer and director Job Clerk, is set in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. and “Of An Age” by Australian-based writer and director Goran Stolevsky (“I Won’t Be Alone”). The film, which also appears at the Melbourne Festival, is set in the summer of 1999 as a love story blossoms between a young Serbian dancer and his older dance partner’s brother.
