Netflix reveals details of Nicholas Winding Refn’s Copenhagen Cowboy movie

Netflix has officially announced that it has stepped up to “Copenhagen Cowboy,” a neon noir poetry series by Nicolas Winding Refn, the Danish filmmaker of the “Pusher”, “Drive” and “The Neon Demon” trilogy.

‘Copenhagen Cowboy’ is a six-episode thriller series about young heroine Mio (Angela Bondalovic) who travels through the criminal underworld of Copenhagen. The six-episode drama was filmed in Denmark. Production has now ended. The show will launch globally on Netflix later this year.

“With ‘Copenhagen Cowboy,’ I go back to my past to shape my future by creating a series, an expansion of my ever-changing self, now in the form of my young heroine, Miu,” said Raven.

The director also spoke highly of his collaboration with Netflix, saying that it was a “absolutely amazing experience on all fronts”.

“I consider them not only my partners in many adventures to come, but also my friends. The new term was born: Netflix Winding Refn,” he joked.

Jenny Stjernströmer Björk, director of Netflix’s Nordic Original Series, said he considers Refn “one of Denmark’s most famous filmmakers”. With this new series, Bjork said Netflix “brought him back to Denmark to produce a local Danish show after more than 15 years abroad.”

“Nicola is a creative force and he is an amazing and unpredictable filmmaker. We can’t wait to bring the Copenhagen Cowboy into the world,” Bjork continued.

The series stars Angela Bondalovic, Lola Korevixen and Zlatko Poreć. Additional cast includes Andreas Lake Jorgensen, Jason Hendel Forsell, Lee Ai Zhang, Dragana Milutinovic, Mikael Bertelsen, Mads Brueger, and others.
