Screening of ‘Black Adam’ trailer with Dwayne Johnson at Comic Con

Dwayne Johnson brought the power of Black Adam to Comic-Con.

Johnson made a big entrance into San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H, climbing off the stage floor in a full Black Adam costume. When he walked out, lightning bolts appeared on the screen behind him and smoke rose to the ground. Audience members were given lightning rods in front of the plate, and each one of them lit up brightly in the dark hall of a grand show.

The movie star also revealed the latest trailer for his upcoming superhero adventure, “Black Adam,” as part of the Warner Bros. show.

Black Adam may not be known to comic book beginners, but his biggest contender should be a familiar face because of the 2019 hit movie “Shazam!” Starring Zachary Levi. Black Adam, similar to the Shazam character, has magical powers from the wizard Shazam. Unlike Shazam, though, Black Adam calls on the Egyptian gods for his power (Shazam traditionally calls on the Greek gods).

The new film is set to follow the heroes nearly 5,000 years after they were endowed with the powers of the Egyptian gods. Freed from his grave, Black Adam is ready to unleash his form of justice in the modern world.

With Johnson’s character as well as a host of new additions, “Black Adam” brings the Justice Society of America into the DC Universe. The Justice League, including Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, are a team of superheroes that predated the Justice League in DC comics.

“Black Adam” begins in theaters on October 21. Warner Bros. owns. Several DC properties on deck in 2022, including the July 29 “DC League of Super-Pets” animation. “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” is currently set to continue the Shazam story on December 22. The studio’s newest superhero adventure, “The Batman,” starring Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, became a commercial smash, grossing $750 million globally.
