Dungeons & Dragons star Chris Pine responds to ‘Lusty Bard’ stereotypes

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Superstar Chris Pine knows how to portray female poets Dungeons and Dragons. Earlier this week, Paramount Pictures revealed that Payne will play Edgin Darvis, the poet and adventurous team leader at the heart of the film. The poet is one of the icons Dungeons & Dragons Classes, a type of character known for using his natural charm to persuade and manipulate, while also having access to a variety of spells.

Talking to ComicBook.com over the weekend at Comic-Con, future star Dungeons & Dragons The film was asked if moviegoers would see his character Edgen live up to typical archetypes, i.e. singing and/or “feeling lively”. β€œI certainly have a lively heart,” Payne replied. “But it’s a certain kind of movie for a certain type of audience, so maybe it’s been underestimated a little bit. Music… I think Edgen definitely thinks he has some, whether that’s true or not, it’s up to the audience to decide.”

Payne notes that Edgen played a major role in his adventurous party and had many distinguishing characteristics that make him a natural leader. “He’s a party planner like he tells Dorick in the trailer,” Payne said. β€œHe is a man of great expectations, and even in the face of incredible difficulties, he refuses to give up.” Payne also noted that Edgin does not have any special powers in the film. “Since I play with most things, he has no special powers while he is surrounded by people who do.”
