The Next Generation crew is back. The teaser and poster for The Star Trek: Picard Season 3 was revealed at San-Diego Comic-con and several crew members have been spotted returning from Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Cast members Patrick Stewart and Gates McFadden gathered together on stage to promote the third and final season of Picard which is set to premiere at Paramount Plus in 2023.
Alex Kurtzman, the series’ executive producer, said Picard will have to set out to find his old crew and reunite him across the galaxy this season. Without revealing much about the main villain in the third installment, he said, “I won’t say much except to say she’s amazing.”
Here’s everything we know about Season 3 of Picard so far.
Season 3 Picard cast news
The trailer and posters give us a glimpse of the actors and characters who will return to Picard in the final season. This includes Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard), Livar Burton (Jordy La Forge), Michael Dorn (Worf), Gates McFadden (Dr. Beverly Crusher), Marina Sirtis (Diana Troy), and Jonathan Frakes (William Riker).
They were also joined by fellow Picard stars including Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine) and Michelle Hurd (Raffi Musiker). This is the first time that all central TNG characters have performed together since the 2002 movie “Star Trek: Nemesis”.
Brent Spiner—who appeared regularly during Season 2 of Picard and played Android Data on The Next Generation and plays the human brother of Data Alan Inigo Song on Picard—will also appear in Season 3.
Picard Season 3 Teaser & Stickers
Paramount Plus premiered several Star Trek series including Star Trek: Picard Season 3 at San Diego Comic-con. They released a trailer and posters for the final season that gives Trekkies a glimpse of what to expect and highlights some quotes from the crew. You can watch the joke below.
The teaser features the remaining Picard crew, along with Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Some of the TNG characters not yet appearing on Picard include Geordi, Worf, Dr. Crusher. The joke gives us some details about her – like Geordi, who looks like he’s dressed as an Admiral Starfleet, while Worf looks like he’s wearing a captain’s rank insignia. Dr.. Crusher is not in uniform though.
Picard season 3 release date speculation
Star Trek: Picard Season 3 will premiere on Paramount Plus in 2023. Season 3 wrapped filming this spring and there are no other details mentioned in the Paramount Plus trailer. So we don’t know what time in 2023 we can expect it to happen.
Season 3 of Picard will likely feature a “mind games between Kirk and Khan”-inspired villain in Khan’s wrath. This final season will also likely deal with Picard facing the trauma he experienced as a child – that he’s been trying to escape his whole life.
The Season 2 finale of Picard also featured Wesley Crusher (Wil Wheaton) surprisingly getting in the middle of the episode to get Kore (Isa Briones) to join the Travelers. But so far by the looks of it, Briones isn’t in season three, so it’s unclear if the series will continue that plot line.
At Comic-con, Patrick Stewart also joked that he would actually set foot on Enterprise-D at least once in Season 3.
