Hulu will accept ads for political issues after backlash from Democrats

Hulu will now begin accepting ads on political issues, according to Disney — a move that comes after Democrats criticized Hulu for rejecting ads that advocate the Republican Party on abortion and firearms issues.

“Following an extensive review of advertising policies across its linear networks and streaming platforms over the past few months, Disney is now working to align Hulu’s political advertising policies to align with the company’s general cable entertainment and sports networks and ESPN+,” Disney said in a statement. The company’s statement continued, “Hulu will now accept candidates and make announcements covering a wide range of policy situations, but reserves the right to request alterations or alternate designs, in line with industry standards.”
