Inaugural review of ‘Love Island’ is being planned by ITV after complaints

British broadcaster ITV is planning an editorial review of its popular show ‘Love Island’ after it directed a slew of complaints from members of the public to media regulator Ofcom.

In the past two weeks alone, the show has attracted 5,623 complaints to Ofcom, primarily related to alleged bullying and misogynistic behavior from some male contestants.

In response to a question from diverse“We’re constantly evaluating the show as it progresses, because it’s one of these live singles every night. But when the series ends, on Monday, we’ll sit down Always and review what we think, what the reaction is, how well it works.”

“It’s the best we’ve had in many years. And I think everyone absolutely enjoys it. Getting five million people to watch your show every night at nine o’clock is exceptional in the modern age. So something is being done right,” added Lego. We must always look to improve and work on what we have done. But we are very happy with the way things have gone so far.”

Elsewhere during the call, the imminent launch of the ad-funded free streaming service ITVX was talked about. “It’s a very differentiated consumer offering. Not only is it free to watch, it’s high-quality content. Its original British content, of course. It’s all of our linear channels, but in addition to that, there’s something new,” said Carolyn McCall, CEO of ITV. And a new one, every week, appears on your screen.”

Lego said, “We should always stress—it’s free. As we approach tough times, that should be a compelling reason to watch it.”

“The thing about most of the live broadcasts, is that they are mostly American shows, which is great, but when you want British productions I think ITVX would be the place to go because there will be a lot of familiar and new shows ready for you all the time,” added Lego.
