It has been more than two decades since the release of Good BurgerNickelodeon is still as popular as ever. The movie that was based on all of that A sketch of the same name, solid box office numbers were made for Paramount. So with the duo’s popularity and financial reception, one can’t help but scratch their head when thinking that the movie didn’t get a big following or a small screen. Kel Mitchell recently shared some thoughts about not getting a chance to do a sequel and also thought about whether such a project could still happen.
I spoke with Kel Mitchell in celebration of Good Burger25th Anniversary and Limited Edition Blu-ray steelbook release. During the conversation, I couldn’t help but ask if there were any discussions about a sequel right after the movie’s release in 1997. The beloved actor revealed that while no other feature actually happened, Kenan Thompson had already been hired for one:
For those who are not aware, Two heads are better than nothing It was the 2000 TV movie that served as the series’ finale Kinan WakeelA show that fans can still enjoy on Netflix. It’s really a shame that the studio didn’t catch up on that third movie, especially when you consider how talented the two lead stars are (and still are). Of course, we currently live in the age of sequels, revivals and reboots, so anything is possible. After all, there was a time when Nickelodeon fans like me didn’t think of it full of nostalgia Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie ever sees the light of day.
It’s worth noting that the fast-food-focused movie technically had a sequel, despite it being released as a novel. The book is called Good Burger To Go (Opens in a new tab), sees lovable Ed follow a short unchanged customer around the world, while the restaurant he loves faces a crisis. The story is fun, but it’s hard not to think it would have been better to watch it on the big screen.
It was interesting to see how Brian Robbins’ teen comedy has stood the test of time. While fans continue to enjoy it, Kel Mitchell continues to feel the love too and can definitely appreciate the movie years later. During our interview, Mitchell also revealed The scene he and Kenan Thompson filmed still resonates with him today. In the last years, revive the two Good Burger Comic play for Tonight ShowAnd back again When Mitchell was involved with all of that Biology.
There doesn’t seem to be any real movement in a sequel at the moment, and such a thing might be out of reach at this point. But like many fans, I’m not ready to raise the white flag just yet, and as Kel Mitchell suggested, I’ll keep my ear to the street for any updates on the matter.
