Triangle of grief trailer: Woody Harrelson’s shocking Cannes winner

The first trailer for Robin Ostlund’s “Triangle of Sadness” is now available online to watch, if you can stand it. The satirical black comedy won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. Östlund, who debuted with his comedy ‘Force Majeur’, has two Palme d’Or wins under his belt thanks to ‘Triangle of Sadness’ and his 2017 satire ‘The Square’. The new film marks Östlund’s first English-language film.

“Triangle of Sadness” stars “Beach Rats” and “The Kingsman” actor Harris Dickinson as an aspiring model who gets the chance to vacation on a luxury yacht after his influential girlfriend wins a free cruise. Woody Harrelson plays an alcoholic yacht captain. The yacht is full of pretentious and arrogant guests who make up 1%, but they all get their payoff when the voyage takes a dark turn.

At the Cannes Film Festival in May, “Triangle of Sadness” shocked audiences and caused some strikes thanks to a 15-minute scene in which vomiting and defecation are shown in all its graphic detail. Neon, who picked up the film for distribution outside Cannes, tends entirely to the film’s gross factor, as a movie poster Features one of the golden character vomits.

diversePeter Debruge of “Triangle of Sadness” gave a strong Cannes review, writing, “There is an extreme subtlety in the way he constructs, blocks, and executes scenes—a kind of agonizing uneasiness, amplified by awkward silences or an unwelcome fly. Among the characters who Struggling to communicate.”

“Triangle of Sadness” joins Academy Award-winning “Titane” and “Parasite” as Neon’s third consecutive Palme d’Or winner. The film will be shown in North America for the first time at the Toronto International Film Festival next month.

Neon will release “The Triangle of Grief” in theaters this fall. Watch the trailer in the video below.
