Magic Eraser’s blur tool is rolling out on Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro

Google launched a new Magic Eraser tool on Pixel devices when it unveiled the Pixel 6a earlier this year. Instead of removing unwanted objects from images, the new Camouflage tool changes the color of selected objects to help them blend in with the surrounding environment and prevent them from drawing the viewer’s attention from the actual subject of the image.

Towards the end of last month, a Google spokesperson, Matt Flegal, confirmed that the gadget will be rolling out to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro on July 28. However, history has come and gone, and the Pixel Home blur widget has yet to come out. That’s changing now, with recent reports suggesting it’s finally rolling out to Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users around the world via a server-side update.

according to 9to5GoogleMagic Eraser Camouflage Tool is now widely available for Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. If you own one of these devices, you can try it out by editing a photo in Google Photos and going to the Magic Eraser feature on the Tools tab. You should see the new blur function next to the current scan option. To use it, you just need to circle or erase an object that might have a distracting color, and the tool will work its magic. You can then click the Done button, and Google Photos will save your edited photo as a copy.

As mentioned in our previous coverage, a tweet from Google earlier this year mentioned that the blur tool will also allow users to highlight selected objects in the image by giving them a pop of color. We’re not entirely sure if this functionality is available at the moment, but we’ll make sure to let you know as soon as we learn more.
