“Cobra Kai” is stirring up some action in the dojo once again as Netflix releases the first official trailer for Season 5.
After last season’s All Valley Karate Championship, Season 5 reveals that Terry Silver – who now has complete control of the Cobra Kai – is planning to expand his dojo across the San Fernando Valley. If Terry isn’t vetted, he and his Cobra Kai mentors will spread their brutal form of karate like wildfire. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence putting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he caused, Daniel LaRusso chose to team up with his former opponent to eliminate Terry.
Cobra Kai follows the lives of Daniel (Ralph Macchio), Johnny (William Zabka), their families and karate students 30 years after the events of the Karate Kid franchise in the 1980s. Actors from the original series reprising their roles in “Cobra Kai” include Martin Cove as John Chris, Thomas Ian Griffith as Terry Silver, Randy Heller as Lucille Larsso, and Yuji Okumoto as Shozen Toguchi. Also co-stars are Tanner Buchanan, Zulu Maridwina, Marie Moser, Courtney Hengler, Jacob Bertrand, Peyton List and Vanessa Rubio.
“Cobra Kai” premiered as an original series on YouTube Premium in 2018, but was later acquired by Netflix in 2020 after YouTube stopped producing original script content. Josh Held, John Horowitz, and Hayden Schlossberg are the series creators and executive producers through Counterbalance Entertainment. Ralph Macchio and William Zapka also serve as executive producers, along with Will Smith, James Lasseter, Caleb Pinkett, and Susan Ekins. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
Season 5 of “Cobra Kai” will premiere on Netflix on September 9.
