What’s new in iOS 15.6.1 and macOS Monterey 12.5.1

iOS 15.6.1 and macOS Monterey 12.5.1 are now available for users worldwide. These updates are only expected to pack bug fixes and security patches. Apple doesn’t highlight any user-facing changes in its release notes – which is entirely to be expected. Users who aren’t beta testing iOS 16 and macOS Ventura are advised to update their devices to iOS 15.6.1 and macOS 12.5.1. These updates, while seemingly minor, can include several important patches for your iPhone or Mac.

To update your iPhone, run a file Settings application, then go to the file general Section. Next, tap system update And wait for the page to refresh. You will then see the prompt to download and install this update. Do that, and don’t forget to keep your phone connected to a power source at all times during this process.

The process for installing a macOS Over the Air (OTA) update on your Mac is similar to installing iOS 15.6. Play file System Preferences application, then tap system update Section. There, you will find the update waiting for your confirmation. If you don’t see it yet, give it a few minutes or restart your Mac. Eventually – as long as you have a supported device – it’s bound to show up at some point.

iOS 15 and macOS Monterey had relatively minor updates. They’ve brought back Safari, FaceTime support on Android and Windows, notification tweaks, Live Text support, improved Apple Maps, iCloud Plus, and more. Now that Apple has delivered all the promised features, it’s releasing some final updates to fix bugs that these OS versions will see – just before the sun goes down.
