Mashup ‘MultiVersus’ tops 20 million users

Transcend “MultiVersus” from Warner Bros. Games – the free-to-play base fighter that brings together a host of characters from across the WB portfolio – has 20 million players less than a month after it launched in open beta, according to the company.

The game allows players to engage in duel battles and choose from an array of Warner Bros. characters. and HBO, from Batman to Harley Quinn and from Bugs Bunny to Scooby-Doo. “MultiVersus” began its open beta on July 26, and the first season launched on August 15 with a new Battle Pass for players to earn in-game rewards.

And more characters are on the way: Morty Smith (from “Rick and Morty”) will join the “MultiVersus” roster on August 23, and others will follow in the coming months including Rick Sanchez (also from “Rick and Morty”), DC Black Adam and Stripe. (from “Gremlins”). New modes will also be coming to the game as part of Season 1, including “Classic” and “Unordered” modes.

The “MultiVersus” character set includes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn; Shaggy and Velma (“Scooby-Doo”); Bugs Bunny and Tasmanian Devil aka Taz (“Looney Tunes”); Arya Stark (“Game of Thrones”); Tom & Jerry; Jake the Dog and Art of the Human (“Adventure Time”); Steven Universe & Garnett (“Steven Universe”); iron giant; LeBron James (“Space Jam: A New Legacy”); and an “unusual original creature” named Reindog.

The ‘MultiVersus’ open beta is now available as a free download for PlayStation 5, PS4 and Xbox Series X consoles | S, Xbox One consoles, and PC with cross-play support. “MultiVersus” is developed by Player First Games and published by Warner Bros.
