King Kong Live-Action series in early development at Disney +

A series of live events centered around the origin of King Kong is in early development at Disney+, diverse Made sure on.

The series will be a serial drama that will explore Kong’s origins as well as the mysteries of his home, Skull Island.

The series will be based on the original “King Kong” written by Merian C. Cooper as well as new novels by artist Joe DeVito co-produced with Cooper’s estate.

Stephanie Folsom, who recently developed the Amazon series “Paper Girls” for TV, will write and produce the King Kong show. James Wan, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett will also produce on behalf of Atomic Monster alongside Dannie Festa for World Builder Entertainment. Disney-branded TV will be produced.

The original “King Kong” debuted in 1933 and was an instant hit. The character has been used in many films to date, most recently in the Legendary-Warner Bros. films. Monsterverse. Among them are “Kong: Skull Island” and “Godzilla vs. Kong”. Netflix also has the animated series “Skull Island” on the way.

This is the second live action show about popular movie monsters made for the streaming service. Apple is currently gearing up for a series about Godzilla and Titans, with Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell recently announced as stars.
