YouTube TV may soon let you watch four channels simultaneously

Google is said to be working on a new feature for the YouTube TV app that will allow users to watch up to four channels simultaneously. The upcoming Mosaic Mode will allow users to divide their TV screen into quadrants for this purpose.

according to protocol (Across the edge), Google briefed Smart TV partners on the upcoming Mosaic Mode at a recent event. At the event, the company also featured a presentation highlighting YouTube Short’s improvements to smart TVs, the fitness tracker’s integration with Google TV, and the ability to use Nest Audio devices as wireless speakers with smart TVs.

At the moment, we don’t have any other details about the leaked mosaic mode, but protocol He shared an image from the presentation showing what the interface of YouTube Shorts might look like on Android TV devices. The video title, song name, channel name, and like/dislike buttons will appear to the right of the video, along with a three-dot menu button. Unlike the YouTube app for TVs, the interface for YouTube Shorts for TVs will not have a progress bar. Overall, the interface looks half complete at the moment. But Google may make some additional changes by the time they are rolled out to users.

The decision to bring YouTube Shorts to smart TVs is part of Google’s strong push to make the short video service more convenient and compete with the likes of TikTok and Instagram Reels. This news comes just days after Google announced that it will start watermarking shorts content to increase awareness and potentially attract users from other platforms when content creators publish their content.

It is possible that all the features mentioned above are in development and it may take some time before they make their way to the users. Since Google has not shared any official information about it, the company may give up some of these features before release and they may never see the light of day.
