British broadcasting platform ITVX will launch in November 2022

ITVX, the upcoming streaming platform from British broadcaster ITV, will be launched in November.

ITV’s Managing Director of Media and Entertainment Kevin Legault confirmed the launch date during a panel discussion at the Edinburgh Television Festival on Wednesday afternoon.

It will replace the existing ITV Hub streaming platform.

Content that will be specifically commissioned for this purpose, and [bought] in from America for this “would be ‘severe’ and is seen as an accompaniment to the traditional linear channel,” Lygo said.

He promised hundreds of thousands of hours of acquisitions including movies thanks to the “mega deals with movie studios” the network made. He also said “there will be a new programming event being dropped into service exclusively” regularly.

In addition to news, entertainment, movies and comedy, there will be collections of shows and other shows.

“I think that way we’re going to use programming to better effect,” he said of the plan to premiere shows on ITVX months before the lineup.

In recent months, ITV has announced a lot of new commissions and acquisitions for the platform, including “The Winter King,” which is based on the Warlord Chronicles books, and the comedies “Significant Other” and “Big Brother.”

“There are a lot of people now who have no experience who are watching ITV live [ITV] Hub,” ITV Chief Financial Officer Chris Kennedy said earlier this year. “We saw that last year in euros. [the UEFA European Football Championship]: a large audience watching live sporting events on the ITV Hub and we envision this trend continuing on ITVX.”
