Rick Scott – the richest member of Congress – criticized Joe Biden for vacationing in Delaware … while touring Italy on a luxury yacht

Rick Scott is a Senator from Florida. He is a Republican and chairs the Republican National Senate Committee. So, aside from his standard duties in the Senate, Rick is also tasked with constantly throwing mud at President Joe Biden and Democrats in general. Nothing wrong with that. This is a policy.

But earlier this week, Rick Scott shot a piece of mud that ended up backfiring somewhat.

If you’re going to call someone on a Delaware vacation… you probably wouldn’t send a tweet from the deck of a luxury yacht cruising around the Italian coast.

Earlier this week, Rick Scott launched his old Twitter with what he believes will be an epic immersion on Biden:

On Wednesday, Axios news revealed that Rick Scott sent out a tweet criticizing the vacation above while he himself was on vacation on a luxury yacht currently sailing in the Mediterranean off the coast of Italy. Axios spoke to three sources who confirmed the news of Scott’s lavish vacation.

This tweet is particularly counterproductive given Rick Scott’s personal wealth.

Depending on how you measure the scope of the most recent financial disclosures (Congress members provide wide and varied ranges of their net worth in annual disclosures), Rick Scott is the richest person in Congress, surpassing the person in second place by nearly $100 million.

Before getting into politics, Rick was the CEO of a healthcare company called Columbia/HCA. At its peak, Columbia/HCA was the largest for-profit healthcare company in the United States. yada yada …. In 1997, investigators from the FBI, the IRS, and the Department of Health and Human Services raided the Columbia/HCA. The company was eventually found to have topped Medicare and Medicade among a number of other federal programs. Shortly after the raid, Rick resigned as CEO, and took $300 million worth of stock.

In a 2000 deposition, Rick defended the Fifth Amendment 75 times. Columbia/HCA eventually pleaded guilty to 14 felonies and paid a $1.7 billion fine.

In 2003, Rick and his wife paid $11.5 million for a 17,000-square-foot beachfront home in Naples, Florida. Today, this home is valued at $30 million…but to the right buyer in the right market, it could be worth closer to $40 or $50 million based on similar Florida businesses.

According to the latest financial disclosure, Rick Scott’s net worth is somewhere in the range of $166 and $355 million.

For several decades before he became vice president in 2008, Joe Biden was referred to as one of the poorest members of Congress. When Vice President Joe Biden’s term expired in 2016, his fortune was $1.5 million. According to Biden’s latest financial disclosure, today his net worth is $9 million. This vast majority of his personal fortune came from speeches and proceeds/foreseen books. From the day he left the White House until the day he announced his presidential campaign, Joe and Jill Biden earned $17 million.
