On Sunday, August 28, after unrest erupted in the neighbourhood, Suleiman Lawal alias Ariko, the leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) was assassinated on Mile 12 in Lagos.
According to The Nation, the ongoing rivalry between Aiye and Eiye’s cult was the cause of the violence.
According to police spokesman Benjamin Hunden, who confirmed the incident:
He said;
The leadership is aware of the violent clash taking place in the O’Ode-Elide area of the state. DPO Owode-Onirin is dealing with the situation. Reinforcement is equipped. We are monitoring the situation.”
