Weird Al Movie: Daniel Radcliffe and Evan Rachel Wood Star

Daniel Radcliffe fixes on his accordion as parody artist “Weird Al” Yankovic in the new trailer for “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.”

“Weird” is set to premiere on Roku’s free-to-air channel on November 4, but will premiere shortly before then as the opening film for the Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness series on September 8.

Described as Yankovic’s “truthful story,” the film explores the life and career of the satirist musician, including his “moral relationships with celebrities and his notoriously depraved lifestyle.” A parody of the biographical genre, the film tells a more fictional account of Jankovi?’s rise to stardom, featuring many of his early hits like “Like a Surgeon” and “Eat It.”

In addition to “Harry Potter” star Radcliffe as Yankovic, the film also features Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna; Quinta Bronson as Oprah Winfrey; Ryan Wilson presenter Dr. Demento. and Julian Nicholson and Toby Haas as Jankovi?’s parents, Mary and Nick.

“Stranger” is directed by Eric Abel, who co-wrote the film with Jankovic himself. The movie comes from Funny Or Die and Tango.

Jankovi? is the winner of five Grammy Awards and the best-selling comedian of all time. Besides producing hits like “White & Nerdy” and “Another One Rides the Bus”, the comedian’s 2014 release of “Mandatory Fun” earned him his debut album in the top 200.

“When my last UHF movie came out in 1989, I solemnly pledged to my fans that I would make a big blockbuster every 33 years, like clockwork,” Jankovic said in a January statement.
