The second season of ‘Hotel Portofino’ starring Natasha Makelone is the biggest shot in Croatia this year

“Hotel Portofino,” starring Natasha McKillon, is back in Croatia after a summer vacation to finish filming its second season. It is by far the largest project filmed in Croatia this year, New Europe movie reports.

Producers of the period drama, written by Matt Baker and directed by Adam Wimpini, are taking advantage of Croatia’s 25% cash discount for the second year in a row. Sixty days of filming are planned, according to the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.

“We are particularly proud to see an exceptional number of Croatian professionals involved in the project,” Tanja Ladovic Blacevic, Head of Photography in Croatia, a division within the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, told FNE. There are 135 Croatian crew members, including 13 of the 14 department heads. In addition, more than 800 additional films were involved in the filming. ”

Filming for the second season of “Hotel Portofino” began in July, and is now resuming after the summer break. After 11 days of filming in Zagreb, most of the scenes will be shot in the coastal city of Lovran. Other sites include Matulgi, Groingan, Pelag and Rijeka.

The first season of “Hotel Portofino” was filmed in Opatija, Rovinj, Pula and Belle in June and July 2021, with a total of 61 filming days, 224 crew members and an additional 353.

Set in a fictional family hotel in 1926 in Italy, the series follows complex family relationships intertwined with a classic mystery.

The series is served by Drugi Plan and produced by Eagle Eye in association with Beta Film, which sells the show.

The six episodes of season one were released on BritBox in the UK on January 27, 2022, and premiered on Sky Italia on February 28, 2022.
