Taylor Hawkins tragically passed away earlier this year. The Foo Fighters star is found in his hotel room on March 25, 2022.
To remember the famous drummer, The Foo Fighters performed a special tribute show at Wembley Stadium last night, Saturday 3 September 2022. During the event, the band brought out a number of famous faces to help remember their friend, including Paul McCartney, Brian May, and Wolfgang Phan Halen, a talented young man who stunned the crowd.
For the Foo Fighters’ penultimate song of the evening, they brought in Hawkins’ son, Shane Hawkins.
But not only did he appear sentimental, he put himself behind his father’s drum stature and played with Dave Grohl and the band.
The 16-year-old proved to be more than just a skilled musician as Grohl set out to hit the tunes of one of his biggest tracks to date: My Hero.
Shane smiled through tears as he delivered an amazing performance that the group was undoubtedly proud of.
While Shane was playing, a large screen above the band displayed pictures of Hawkins and his son during various stages of their lives.
It’s hard to watch the boy’s performance and not have a tear in your eye as you watch the young man follow in his bass father’s footsteps.
The performance was streamed live via Paramount+, and will be available for on-demand viewing in the coming days.

The emotional night concluded with Grohl telling the 90,000 attendees about the loss of his friend Hawkins.

A toxicology report on Hawkins revealed the effects of “ten substances in his body,” including antidepressants.
The drummer had previously struggled with substance abuse in his past and often spoke openly about his experiences.
In 2021, he asked Hawkins how he dealt with difficult moments throughout his life. He laughed: “I was doing a lot of drugs.”
He added, “You get the work done. Foo Fighters live and breathe on stage. In the studio, the albums are so great Dave [Grohl’s] Vision. A lot of times, he gives demos and you listen carefully and try to get some of your licks in there. Mostly, we try to put Dave’s vision on tape or on a computer. “
Hawkins opened up about more details of his life, adding that one of his drug use cases “overstepped the bounds” and put him in hospital.
He said of the experience: “Everyone has their own path and I’ve gone too far. I was partying in London one night, and I did something by mistake and it changed everything.”
He added, “I thought bulls** were a myth: ‘Live hard and fast, die young.’ I’m not here to preach about no drug use, because I loved taking drugs, but it got out of hand for a while and almost lost me. I was walking the Cannes Road. It will lead to worse paths.”
