But when her first song unintentionally sparks controversy, Brie must figure out how to find her true voice – despite what others think – to make it really big in the business.

The new movie stars Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Lil Yachty, Mike Epps, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Justin Martin, Titus Makin, Michael Cooper Jr. and GaTa and Cliff “Method Man” Smith. Lathan directs a screenplay by Kai Uejun.

“We are thrilled to share this wonderful adaptation of Angie Thomas’ animated novel with audiences everywhere, across multiple platforms,” said Chris Aronson, president of local distribution company Paramount Pictures.

Seeing Sana Lathan’s visual direction and watching gorgeous talent Jamila C Gray and the rest of the cast light up the screen, viewers will see what we already know: It’s an exceptional movie, not to be missed,” Aronson continued. “Sincere thanks to our partners in State Street and Temple Hill. On TIFF’s opening night, it garnered glowing reviews. miscellaneous Andrew Parker headlined his review with writing “Sana Lathan shines on her directorial debut” and “Newcomer Jamila C Gray owns the screen in this bittersweet tale of an aspiring teen rapper.”

In an interview before the festival, Lathan said diverse How did you feel when you first sat on the director’s chair? “Everyone keeps wondering if I was nervous before we started shooting, and I wasn’t weirdly nervous, and I felt so comfortable on set,” she said. “You realize after being on set for 30 years, how much you know and how much you have that point of view.”

“On the Come Up” is presented by Paramount+ in association with Paramount Pictures’ Players label. State Street Pictures and Temple Hill are produced by George Tillman Jr., Robert Teitel, Yach Godfrey, Marty Bowen, Isaac Klausner, and Thomas and Timothy M.
