People’s wrath will reflect in Lok Sabha polls: Goa Congress!

Panaji, Sep 14 (IANS) Terming the release of eight MLAs to the BJP as murder of the vote-based system, the Congress unit in Goa on Wednesday said people’s anger against the saffron party would be reflected in the Lok Sabha. Sabha resolutions.

“Murder of majority rule system by BJP is happening in India. They are shaken by ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’. Boss Minister Pramod Sawant assured that they had enough numbers, then there was a need to admit more MLAs. It means BJP had a plan to complete the resistance as 67% of the citizens voted against them,” Goa Congress chief Amit Patkar said in an interview to the public here.

Deputies Yuri Alemao, Altone D’Costa and Carlos Alvarez Ferreira, who remained in the Congress, also participated in the press conference. Congress strength in Goa assembly reduced to three after eight MLAs joined BJP.

“I am happy with these MPs, they were also under tension. In any case, they remained with their standards and values. Those who surrendered (deputies) deceived the people who made decisions in their favor.”

“People see the political turn of events. Keeping this incident in mind, individuals of Goa will elect Congress from the state in the Lok Sabha polls,” he said.

He said that the presence of three Congress MLAs will raise every issue related to Goa.

MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira said what is at stake for the BJP government which has expelled eight MLAs. “We are completely shocked. We have tried our best to appeal to everyone and discourage such actions. But what happened from the evening to the morning the other day is public.”

“We were amazed that we united and did not make our ‘statement’ to individuals only, but we as a whole promised not to separate before the (coming) Gods.” Congress,” Ferreira said.

Ferreira said they will revive the party and go for it.

Yuri Alemao said it was an extremely sad episode. “It is terrible that individuals are choosing us in the image of the Congress. We avoided the potential risk, went before God and legally sworn. I neglect to understand how these people oppose God,” said Alemao.

He said the BJP had even attempted such moves in 2007 to topple the Congress government. “The BJP is an expert in this,” he said.

MP Altone D’Costa said he was pleased he did not double-cross his constituents.
