Ex-Netflix Exec Juan Mayne Joins Spanish Indie Team Nadie es Perfecto

Spanish independent production panel Ace Perfecto, producer of Alex de la Iglesia’s hit comedy “Perfectos Desconocidos,” has hired former Netflix exec Juan Mayen to join the company as it ramps up its slate of business with a slew of new projects.

Among them are two pre-production pictures: “La navidad en sus manos”, co-produced with Bowfinger and Esto También Pasará, directed by Joaquín Mazón, starring Ernesto Seville and with a special collaboration of actor and director Santiago Segura, who has worked with de la Iglesia and Guillermo del Toro; and “Locomía” directed by Kike Maillo and starring Jaime Lorente (“Money Heist”, “Elite”) and Alberto Ammann (“Lope”, “El silencio del cazador”).

Mayne’s 20+ years of experience in the entertainment industry includes her stints at Warner Bros. and Disney before heading up the movie division of Netflix in Spain. Said Mayne: “I am so excited to start this new position as a freelance producer at a company that has spent two decades telling the best stories, working with top talent, receiving awards and promoting their work in a highly competitive sector.”

It is hoped that Mayne’s deep experience in the sector, relationships with talent, and extensive network of contacts in the international film industry will help advance the company’s ambitions.

As Kiko Martinez, who founded Shingle 20 years ago, said: “I have worked with Juan Mayen in recent years, always in a perfect collaboration, and I believe that its establishment will help us make a quantum leap in this sector.”

The Madrid-based plankton has another project called “Fenómenas”. Inspired by the work of the investigative superhero Grupo Hepta, the pic is directed by Carlos Theron and presented by Pelin Rueda (“The Orphanage”), Gracia Olayo, Tony Acosta and Emilio Gutierrez Capa.

Apart from “Perfectos Desconocidos”, the company produced “The Bar” for de la Iglesia and Eduardo Casanova’s first feature “Skins” (“Pieles”) which premiered in 67The tenth Berlinale.

Her most recent releases include: “El juego de las llaves,” co-produced with Atresmedia Cine and Warner Bros. Spain, directed by Vicente Villanueva and with Fernando Gualar, Eva Ugarte, Mirren Ibarguren, and Tamar Novas, among others. He has also produced the highly rated TV series “Tarancón” while his documentaries include “Voces, Sara Baras” and “Y en cada lenteja un Dios”.
