Lionsgate shoots remake trilogy of The Strangers in Slovakia

Production of the first part of the “Strangers” trilogy, directed by Renee Harlin and produced by Lionsgate, has begun in Slovakia. Frame film Rastislav Kuril serves production in the country. Producers recorded a 33% cash discount on the Slovak Audiovisual Fund in June, New Europe movie reports.

Filming for the first part of the trilogy began in August at locations in and around Bratislava.

The trilogy is a remake of the 2008 film The Strangers, written and directed by Brian Bertino, and starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman. Together with the 2018 sequel “Strangers: Prey at Night”, it became a horror classic.

Starring Madelaine Petsch, Fury Gutierrez, and Gabriel Basso, the film will follow Beach’s character as she drives through the countryside with her longtime boyfriend (Gutierrez) to start a new life in the Pacific Northwest. When their car breaks down in Venus, Oregon, they are forced to spend the night in a secluded location, where they are terrorized from dusk till dawn by three masked strangers.
