Stars come out in NYC for premiere of ‘Amsterdam’!

New York — Stars step out in NYC for the ‘Amsterdam’ premiere

The stars walked out Sunday night at Lincoln Center for the premiere of “Amsterdam” — a new feature that will premiere next month in time for the Academy Award.

“Amsterdam” features three former Oscar winners and even an Oscar host. Directed by a man who grew up in Larchmont. Writer and director David O. Russell has received Oscar nominations for films like The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook, and American Hustle, the latest of which is making a bold bid for attention.

Amsterdam tells the story of what happened to World War I veterans when the Depression hit, and it wasn’t pretty.

Christian Bale and John David Washington play soldiers wounded in action, under the care of a French nurse portrayed by Margot Robbie.

After a post-war break in Amsterdam, the men find themselves embroiled in a murder in the United States. With the depression pressing on democracy, a general played by Robert De Niro is being recruited by American fascists, but will the commander be a friend or an enemy of our heroes?

Robert De Niro is absolutely gorgeous, and there’s also short appearances of Taylor Swift, Mike Myers, and Chris Rock that will be fun for their fans.

“Amsterdam” is released on October 7 and distributed by 20th Century Fox, which is owned by the same parent company as ABC7.
