Houston traffic: Suspect in custody after leading Pct. 4 deputies on chase on West Beltway southbound at Clay Road!

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – It took about eight law enforcement officers, authorities said, but one suspect is now in custody after leading 4 Harris County deputies in a manhunt Tuesday morning in West Belt.

The chase didn’t last long and ended around 7:05 AM. The chase forced four lanes heading south from the Beltway on Clay Road to close, with only one lane to pass, SkyEye video shows.

Constable Mark Hermann confirmed that the deputies were after a white four-door Saturn sedan heading south on North Sam Houston Parkway through West Road.

Authorities said deputies were trying to stop traffic, but the driver failed to comply and continued driving, which led to the chase.

At one point, the suspect was seen on the ground possibly resisting the officers.

It was not clear why the suspect was being pursued.

SkyEye video shows backups running at least four to five miles away as authorities work to clean up the scene. Drivers are advised to take the off-road as an alternative route.
