‘SNL’: Megan Thee Stallion, Miles Teller, Brendon Gleeson First Hosts

Megan Thee Stallion will double-duty as host and guest musician next month as “Saturday Night Live” returns for its first three shows of the new season. But first, with the 48th season of SNL kicking off October 1, Miles Teller will begin appearing as a host for the first time. Brandon Gleeson has also been lined up for his first ever hosting assignment, ‘SNL’.

NBC announced Tuesday that SNL will return with three consecutive shows on October 1, October 8, and October 15, featuring three first-time hosts.

First as host is Tyler, who is currently starring in the summer blockbuster “Saturday Night Live,” opening the “SNL” season with musical guest Kendrick Lamar. It’s the third time that Lamar has played the ‘SNL’ bassist. The Grammy Award winner is currently on tour to promote his new album “Mr. Morale and adults.”

The following week, on October 8, comes Gleeson, who will also host SNL for the first time. Gleeson, who won an Emmy in 2009 for his role as Winston Churchill in HBO’s Into the Storm, is promoting his new movie “The Banshees of Inisherin,” which hits theaters October 21.

Willow will join the episode of Gleeson as a musical guest, for the first time on SNL. It appears as her fifth album.which was released on October 7.

Then there’s Megan Thee Stallion, who hosts SNL for the first time on October 15. She is also the musical guest on the episode, making it her second appearance on SNL in that capacity. The Grammy winner backs her latest album, “Traumazine”.

The new episodes come as SNL is going through a casting change, including the recently announced departure of Chris Reed. His exit came after the departures of Alex Moffat, Melissa Villasinor and Aristotle Atari announced earlier this month, and the May news that Kate McKinnon, Eddie Bryant, Kyle Mooney and Pete Davidson were leaving.

The show also announced four new featured players: Marcelo Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker.

“This is going to be a transition year,” executive producer Lorne Michaels said last week at the Emmy Awards. “Years of change are always tough. But also really exciting.”

Saturday Night Live recently won the 2022 Emmy Award for Variety Graphic Series, bringing its total number of wins to 93 (including specials and miniseries).

“SNL” broadcasts live coast-to-coast on NBC, 11:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. PT. The first episode of the season will also be broadcast live on Peacock on October 1.

“Saturday Night Live” was produced in association with Broadway Video. Creator and Executive Producer is Lorne Michaels.
