Abdo is starring in the movie “The Neighbors,” which will be released in theaters in December. Mgwada, a former comedian, mentors new filmmakers through FilmAid and makes short films about sexual and gender-based violence and other issues affecting Tanzanian youth.

“We haven’t done anything like a war archive before, but we felt it was really important. This material can be used during war crimes investigations and in future documentaries,” says Julia Kartashova of DocuDays, who will be coming from Kyiv to New York to accept the FilmAid Award.
