T-Mobile in-flight Wi-Fi now includes United Airlines

T-Mobile today announced that it is expanding its coverage beyond in-flight internet with the addition of United Airlines. As a result, those with eligible cellular plans can take advantage of in-flight Wi-Fi on select short-haul domestic and international flights. In addition, it will continue to provide free in-flight Wi-Fi and live streaming service with Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, and Delta.

Mike Seifert, CEO of T-Mobile stated:

Now, T-Mobile customers can stay connected from takeoff to landing and beyond on hundreds of other flights, including United Airlines now! This latest Coverage Beyond expansion is part of our goal of keeping customers connected even outside our network signal, and we’re on an ongoing mission to find new ways to achieve this.

Now, in terms of specifics, T-Mobile states that in-flight internet coverage will be available on certain models of United aircraft such as the 737, MAX8 and MAX9. Additionally, the service will also be available on select 757-300 and A319 models, with additional coverage to be announced in the near future.

Besides its in-flight benefits, T-Mobile Magenta plans offer unlimited calls, texts, and data. Magenta Max subscribers get additional benefits like 40GB of hotspot tethering and international texting using data. Max plans also get you a free subscription to Netflix, Apple TV Plus, and a year’s membership of AAA. Additionally, customers will also have access to T-Mobile Tuesdays, a day dedicated to giving gifts and discounts, through its app every Tuesday.

T-Mobile was very busy. In addition to running its cellular business, the company has branched out into home internet service backed by 5G. The company has more than 1 million subscribers, and at the top of the month, it expanded its coverage to 64 new cities. Recently, T-Mobile also announced a partnership with SpaceX to provide its subscribers with emergency satellite service starting in 2023. During its initial rollout, the service will support messaging, multimedia, and messaging apps. While a schedule has not been announced, the satellite service will eventually support voice and internet.
