Clipchamp now gives Microsoft 365 users access to premium filters

Microsoft has begun to bring the Clipchamp video editor closer to the rest of the Microsoft 365 family of products. The company recently started providing access to premium filters and effects for users with a Microsoft 365 subscription, so you don’t need to pay extra for an Essentials plan to access it. The change, first spotted by Daniel Rubino Windows Centralis the first major step in making Clipchamp a true part of Microsoft 365.

In the year since Microsoft first acquired Clipchamp, the video editor has seen some major changes that make it significantly better value. Prior to the acquisition, Clipchamp’s free plan only offered to export 480p video, and there were a total of four pricing tiers available for up to $39 per month. However, things soon started to change, with 1080p video exports being added to each tier and, more recently, a simpler pricing scheme with one free plan and one paid plan (basics).

For $11.99 per month, you can now access a full suite of photos, audio, and video, as well as cloud storage for your files and projects. The Essentials plan also lets you create a subset of tools so you can more easily standardize your branding across your videos. Premium filters and effects are also part of the package, but now, this special feature is given at no additional cost if you have a Microsoft 365 subscription. If you sign in with an account that has a subscription attached to it, you can see this change reflected in the pricing plans.

There are a total of eight premium filters and effects in the Clipchamp library. Additionally, there are some premium sound effects in Clipchamp, which you can also access with a Microsoft 365 subscription.

As Microsoft tries to bring Clipchamp closer to its family of products and services, we wouldn’t be surprised to see more capabilities available to Microsoft 365 subscribers in the near future.
