Amazon just announced its latest e-ink tablet – the Kindle Scribe. Rather than just being a dedicated e-reader like the best Kindles, this one comes with a digital pen for taking notes, diaries and drawing. These tasks should be made easier by the large 10.2 inch front-light display at 300 pixels per inch. It will be available this holiday season starting at $339.
The Kindle Scribe has a glare-free screen that Amazon claims is similar to reading or writing on paper. The new digital sticky notes feature on the device allows you to add handwritten notes to any books you read. Amazon says these notes and highlights are automatically in one place to keep pages “clutter-free.”
You’ll be able to take or jot down notes using different templates, including to-do lists for keeping track of tasks and lined paper for meeting notes. Your notes are automatically saved and backed up to the cloud – giving you some relief. Amazon says it will be possible to access these notes via the Kindle app in early 2023.
There is another useful feature called Send-to-Kindle. This will allow you to import documents from your computer or phone into Kindle Scribe and write directly to PDF documents. In addition, you will be able to import and create handwritten sticky notes in Microsoft Word documents, websites, and other document formats with adjustable font sizes and layouts. You can send documents to Kindle Scribe from Microsoft Word in early 2023.
Like we said above, Kindle Scribe will be available starting at $339 this holiday season. It will be available in Tungsten with 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage options. The device comes with a basic battery-free stylus or a premium stylus, which includes an eraser and a customizable shortcut button.
Amazon says new premium leather, leather, and fabric covers, which can be folded to support the Kindle Scribe at different reading angles, will be available in a variety of colors. There is no word on when these wraps will be released, but it could happen when the device is launched.
prospects
Kindle Scribe should be a powerful device for those who want to do more with their Kindle than just read books. This tablet has some similarities with reMarkable – although the latter is not an e-reader like the Kindle. Based on what we saw today, Kindle Scribe could be an e-reader to keep on your radar.
