Australia Partner Stan and Lionsgate on ‘Prosper’

Australian streaming service Stan and production and content studio Lionsgate have commissioned a new original drama series “Prosper”.

‘Prosper’ will be produced by Lingo Pictures and benefit from significant production investment from Screen Australia, with additional assistance from the New South Wales Government via Screen NSW and Made in NSW Fund.

The series is part of Stan Originals’ ongoing television development partnership to bring global content to Lionsgate.

Stan said he will be assigned to the inner sanctuary of a bonded family of unfathomable wealth and unchecked power as they build a giant evangelical church bent on world domination.
Matt Cameron (“Jack Irish”), Liz Doran (“Please Like Me”), Louise Fox (“Broadchurch”), Belinda Chayko (“Stateless”) are writers on the project. Jason Stevens (“Lambs of God”) and Helen Bowden (“The Secret She Keeps”) are producers of Lingo Pictures, along with Andrew Walker (“Rosehaven”). Cailah Scobie and Amanda Duthie will provide executive production for The Stan.

Scobey, Stan’s chief content officer, said this commissioning announcement is only the beginning of the company’s expanded partnership with Lionsgate.

“When we announced that we were expanding our partnership with global Hollywood studio Lionsgate to include the development of new projects, we knew we were going to have some outstanding Stan Originals on the way,” she said.

“Prosper will be a prestigious drama exploring the consequences of power and unbridled desire, as Lingo Pictures and the creative team have developed a fascinating and timely series.”
Agabe Kapuranis, Head of International Television and Digital Distribution, Lionsgate added:

“We are excited to begin our agreement with Stan with such strong drama. This is just the first of many opportunities our collaboration can take advantage of in Australia and around the world.”

Grain Brundson, Head of Content at Screen Australia, praised Lingo Pictures and said the series was “not to be missed”. More casting and production announcements will be made in the future.

The partnership between Stan and Lionsgate also includes the drama series The Geography of Friendship, which is jointly developed and produced by Aquarius Films and Rose Byrne’s Dollhouse Pictures. The companies are also working on Population 11, a remote comedy series being developed by Jungle Entertainment.
