Houston crime: Gunman shot man multiple times before stealing his car outside AM Mini Mart on Weston Street, police say!

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – Police say a man died after being shot during a suspected carjacking on Houston’s south side overnight.

Investigators believe the man in his mid-30s worked at the AM Mini Mart in the 6500 block of Weston Street near Kelso Street.

This is where the shooting happened around 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday.

Houston police said there were witnesses who were driving when the whole matter came to light.

Witnesses said the suspect fired several times at the victim’s car before removing the victim from the driver’s seat.

Witnesses told police that the shooter then climbed into the car and took off.

Now, there is a search to find the gunman and the stolen car, which is described as a smoke-colored sedan and possibly a Toyota four-door.

Police said the car may have brought down the driver’s side window.

Police said the witnesses did what they could to try to help the victim.

First Lieutenant Wilkins said, “As soon as they got off the road, they noticed that the car had been left. They felt safe enough to return and tried to provide medical assistance to the complainant, but he died at the scene.”

Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the shooting. They don’t know if the victim was closing the store and was robbed or if the incident was a car theft.
